Water Filters: Tips and FAQ’s

Water filters are a very easy way to protect your body from contaminants, both in drinking water and shower water. Depending on where you live, your water might have different chemicals and contaminants. Here in Florida, for example, we have Chloramines in the water which are a combination of Chlorine and Ammonia. Chloramines are used to disinfect tap water. It’s important to know what is in your water in order to determine proper water filtration for your home. Here are some tips on how to best determine your water filtration needs.

The first step to determining water filter needs is analyzing your living situation. If you live in a house, you have the option of filtering all the water in your home. If you live in a condo or townhouse, you might not have the option of whole house filtration. Whole house water filters are very effective and cost efficient for homes because you don’t need to install individual shower filters in each bathroom. If you live in a condo, a shower filter and drinking water filter are probably all you need.

The second step is finding out what is in your water. If you have city or county water, you can request a water quality report from your local water company. If you have well water, you will want to have your water tested at least once a year.

The third step is to determine what water filter system is best for your home. There are many brands of water filters with prices ranging from $10 to over $5000. Make sure to do your research and go with a reputable company with many years of experience. Shop around also, allot of water filter systems can be foundĀ on lineĀ that are much less expensive than store or company systems.

Any filtration is better than no filtration. There is no reason to risk your health or the health of your family. 70% of your body consists of water. By filtering the water that you drink and shower in, you greatly reduce the amounts of chemicals and contaminants that you come into contact with on a daily basis. Feel free to ask a question or post a comment, and I will get to them as soon as I can. Good luck with your search.

Have a great day.
